About these dates

Frost dates come from the nearest NOAA 1991–2020 climate normals station (32°F, 50% probability), a 50/50 date, not a guarantee. Where that station records 32°F in fewer than half of years, we say frost is rare instead of showing a date, and 89 ZIP code areas have no NOAA freeze-data station within 60 miles. Crop timing rules come from university extension planting guides (UNH, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, University of Maryland and University of Idaho); see how we count planting dates. See frost-date tables and zone guides. Adjust for your site and the season.
